Dental Health

Kelly-Jean Burden, an Oral Health Therapist, came to speak to the Appleseed children today about Oral Hygiene.

She started off by reading the story “Tooth and Nale”, it’s a story about a boy and a big tooth dinosaur.  They become friends by learning to look after their teeth.  She then discussed with the children the right way to brush their teeth, what food is good and what food is not so good for our teeth. Kelly also did an experiment to show how plaque can build up on our teeth and cause cavities. The children then finished off with having a turn of dressing up like a dentist - so much fun :)
Children have a strong sense of wellbeing when they take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing. This is evident when they show increasing independence and competence in personal hygiene, care and safety for themselves and others. We promote this learning when we engage children in experiences, conversations and routines that promote healthy lifestyles and good nutrition.
Learning Outcome: 3.2

We encourage regular feedback from all of our parents. It helps us quickly identify and fix any areas that may have room for improvement. It’s always nice to hear when we’ve done well too...
