Phonological awareness

Our preschoolers are continuing to love their PreLit session.

They are currently learning about syllables (beats in a word). They have been listening to different words and then counting (and clapping) how many syllables (beats) are in each. The children have thrived during this activity.

Recognising syllables in words and being able to identify how many syllables in a word will help the children greatly when moving onto primary school (where they will learn to read, spell and write). This is because when children are able to say one syllable at a time, spelling and reading becomes much easier as the child can break the word into parts.

Your Words

We encourage regular feedback from all of our parents. It helps us quickly identify and fix any areas that may have room for improvement. It’s always nice to hear when we’ve done well too...
